It was the night before we were released back into the real world, and among all the confusion and excitement of Harvest Weekend we hadn’t had enough time to hang out together as a semester. The festivities were finally over and we were all ready to head home for a brief hiatus from MCS.
We had been asked to gather in the Dining Hall to collect our cell phones before check-in. As we all sat down in a large circle, the same way we had kicked off the semester three months earlier, we had begun to chatter and guitars were being played here and there. Soon enough we were all together in a full on sing along, guitars flying across the circle from one person to the next, and all of a sudden we were all together again, as a semester. It was just then that home didn’t look quite as appealing as it did a few hours before.
