We’ve heard past stories about Gordy living in total darkness– the only light provided by headlamps. But, the eight of us (Katie, Jen, Elsie, Kristen, Margot, Lyllie, Talia, and I) are hopeful. So far, we’ve maintained a pretty full battery. Granted, it’s only Day 4, but I like to think that these four days are indicative of the whole semester.
We’ve laughed about how we’re like little hamsters, but in all seriousness, there’s something really exciting about relying on ourselves for energy. We’ve already become exponentially more aware of the electricity we use and have altered our behavior accordingly. All the simple things, like light or blasting music for our constant dance parties, are more valuable now; we have to give to gain, and that reciprocity is enthusing.
I would write more about how enriching the experience is, but I have to go bike so that Gordy can have power.
Over and out.
