On Tuesday last week, after a lengthy freezing period, a group of 11 Chewonki members –– 9 students, 2 teachers –– ventured off Chewonki property and onto the Bath Family Ice Rink for a friendly game of pick-up ice hockey. The ice quality was great, and even the slightly stinky smell could not dampen the NHL team members’ spirits. We even met a fellow hockey player who was not from Chewonki. He was a great addition to the team.
The game was a nailbiter, with goals made by teachers and students alike. We stayed out maybe a tad later than we should have, but the game was enjoyed by everyone. Even Mike, our newcomer, asked if we would return to the rink again. We hope to, Mike!
