Cabin Life is great! Everyone is so nice, generous, and caring to each other. There are eight people living in our cabin, Orchard House. We bond over music, hobbies, and similar situations we have been through at home. We have a cabin journal to document all of the goofy conversations that we have at night and during the day, our cabin bucket list, what we do during the day, the stories we tell about living in our home towns, photos from Kimberly’s polaroid, and funny quotes that people in our cabin say. This journal is only for our cabin and we keep what we say in the cabin. This is very important to me because it creates this sort of trust between all of my cabin mates and me. Our cabin motto is “What do you need?” Because when anyone is feeling down or experiencing emotional issues, we ask them that question. It also sounds similar to Justin Bieber’s song “What do you mean?” For only people who have been here for about a week, we really feel like we have become close friends. After long days, we all come back into the cabin and talk about all the good and difficult things about your day and it’s good to be able to vent and talk with people who will actually listen to you. We all wake each other up at 6:30 am. In short, Chewonki’s community is one of the best I’ve ever been a part of.
