A Maine native, Andrew Hunter is a member of Maine Coast Semester history team. He spent three years teaching history and social studies at Maine’s Nashoba Regional High School in Massachusetts. “Teaching requires consistent curiosity to reinvent curriculum and learn more about content and pedagogy,” Andrew writes. “I love asking other teachers about what they are doing in class to get new ideas. I try to read new books to deepen my understanding of history, which in turn helps me find opportunities for lesson extensions that I know will boost student engagement.”
While an undergraduate at Tufts University, he worked with Jumpstart AmeriCorps in an early literacy program and was a teaching fellow for Breakthrough Greater Boston, teaching academic courses in a summer enrichment program.
Andrew holds a B.A. in Political Science and a M.A.T. in Political Science and Political Philosophy from Tufts.
