Ethan will graduate from Bowdoin College this spring with a BA in Government and Legal Studies and a minor in Mathematics. While attending college he has been an active member of the outing club and a math teaching assistant at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School in Brunswick, Maine. class. Over the past four years, Ethan has worked with approximated eighty elementary students, writing lesson plans and adapting instruction methods to individuals.
From this experience he has learned, “…that while everyone needs to learn long division, each student will do that via their own path.”
Ethan has completed Bowdoin Outing Clubs’ Leadership Training course, a 350-hour program that has equipped him with both technical, “hard” skills to lead a group in a range of activities and also the “soft” skills that ensure a good working relationship with a co-leader and trip participants.
Additionally, as a high school junior, Ethan attended the Mountain School of Milton Academy, giving him a first-hand understanding of the semester school experience. He writes, “I’ve experienced the awkwardness of showing up on the first day, building community among individuals from all over the country (if not the world), and the rhythm of life that the school falls into.
