Greg arrived at Chewonki in 1984 to work on the environmental education staff. In 1991, he was appointed as Chewonki’s first year-round Director of Wilderness Trips and in 2016, he was named to his current position. As vice president, Greg is involved in day-to-day decision making and organizational leadership.
A passionate paddler and wilderness traveler, Greg is a Registered Master Maine Guide. He received a degree in Outdoor Recreation from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
In the community
Greg is a board member and volunteer for several outdoor and conservation organizations, including the Forest Society of Maine, the Maine Wilderness Guides Organization, the Maine State Trip Leader Advisory Committee (Chairperson), the West Branch of the Penobscot River Advisory Board, and the Steering Committee for the Maine State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. He lives in Alna with his wife, Lynne Flaccus, and son, Kyle, who is a student at UMaine.
