About

Peg Willauer-Tobey

Peg joined the Advancement Office in 2008. She first discovered Chewonki at age 13, when she participated in a hiking trip on the Appalachian Mountain Trail. She later returned to be a camp staff member. As a parent of campers and wilderness trip participants, Peg has now deepened her family’s long connection with Chewonki in many ways.

Peg lives in Brunswick with her husband and two teenage sons. She serves on the board of directors of the Brunswick Community Education Foundation.

What Brought Me to Chewonki?

Before returning to Chewonki full-time, Peg worked as the development officer for Maine Island Trail Association. Prior to that, she worked as an outdoor educator for Outward Bound in Boston and Australia, where she developed, managed, and led wilderness and urban courses. Additionally, she was a Team Leader for City Year Boston, a USCG licensed ferry captain, and a stay-at-home mother. Peg has a B.A. in comparative religion from Boston University.
